About the Event
On August 11, 2021, at noon eastern, the South Florida Chapter of the Federal Bar Association held its final summer boardroom luncheon. The featured guest was Bruce Moyer, Counsel for Government Relations to the Federal Bar Association in Washington, D.C. for the past 25 years. Bruce’s opening remarks touched upon current legislative proposals to expand the size of the federal judiciary, and potential obstacles to eventual enactment of those proposals. In response to participant questions, Bruce explained how the FBA develops initiatives for congressional consideration and invited members to submit proposals on matters of interest to them. The discussion then moved to an overview of the blue slip process used in district court nominations and Bruce talked about how that process differs from state to state.
As Bruce is about to retire from his position, the program concluded with the chapter’s presentation of a token of its gratitude--a bobblehead in his likeness! We thank Bruce once more and wish him well in whatever he chooses to do next!
